FlexSteel CNC Machinist I

This is a FlexSteel position and is located in Baytown TX.

Day Shift position

• The CNC Machinist will be responsible for operating and running stations with up to two lathes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Reads and interprets blueprints and drawings to setup edit and machine parts (fasteners midlines) to tight specifications and tolerances
• Operates and runs stations with up to two Numeric Controlled lathes
• Machines small to mid-size parts (28-inch midlines/fasteners for FlexSteel products)
• Utilizes common machining tools: Micrometers Calipers Gauges etc. to perform QC on finished parts.
• Fast-paced precise work.
• Maintains a safe and clean working environment. Shop is kept very organized and clean.
• Works in a safe manner.
• Responsible for quality of parts produced.
• Responsible for documentation generated or related to production of the job.
• Works within tolerances of /-.005.
• Works from blueprints sketches and process control documents.
• Assumes other duties and responsibilities as required.
• All candidates must be punctual and reliable and adhere to strict attendance policy
• All other duties as assigned

EDUCATION EXPERIENCE and QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. • Highschool Diploma or Equivalent GED.
• A minimum of 1-3 years experience doing setups edits and machining on CNC Lathes
• Experience with carbon stainless steel materials
• Experience running station with multiple machines in a fast-paced work environment
• Candidates must be able to read prints to do own setup & editing as needed during runs
• Experience with Okuma Lathes with Live Tooling a major plus
• Experience with G-Codes & Okuma Controls (OSP 200LA and 300) a major plus

• Field Branch Shop & Plant Positions: This position operates in an industrial/field environment. The role requires working in and around manufacturing equipment heavy machinery and potentially hazardous materials. While performing the duties of this job the employee:
• Must be able to lift/move up to 50 pounds regularly
• Stand and walk for extended periods (up to 12 hours per shift)
• Climb stairs and ladders
• Bend stoop kneel and reach
• Work in confined spaces when required
• Operate heavy equipment and power tools
• Perform repetitive movements

• Field Branch Shop & Plant Positions: This position operates in an industrial/field environment. The role requires working in and around manufacturing equipment heavy machinery and potentially hazardous materials. While performing the duties of this job the employee:
• Exposure to extreme weather conditions
• Exposure to loud noise levels requiring hearing protection
• Work in high places and confined spaces
• Exposure to dust fumes and chemicals
• Work around moving mechanical parts
• Work in hot and cold temperatures
