Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Proposal Engineer to join our team in Chennai. The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of experience in preparing technical and commercial proposals for Water Treatment Plants (WTP) Effluent Treatment Plants (ETP) and Sewage Treatment Plants (STP). The candidate should be proficient in process design costing and tender preparation with a strong understanding of project requirements and client specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

Review tender documents specifications and client requirements to prepare detailed technical and commercial proposals.

Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs) mass balance and preliminary design calculations for treatment systems.

Prepare cost estimates BOQs and equipment sizing & selection based on project requirements.

Coordinate with process mechanical electrical and procurement teams for proposal preparation.

Liaise with vendors and subcontractors to obtain quotations and technical inputs.

Prepare and present technical clarifications deviations and compliance statements.

Ensure proposals are completed within timelines and aligned with company pricing strategies.

Support the sales team during technical discussions and client meetings.

Maintain a database of cost benchmarks suppliers and historical proposal data.

Required Skills & Competencies:

Strong knowledge of WTP/ETP/STP processes treatment technologies and system design.

Hands-on experience in proposal engineering cost estimation and tender documentation.

Good understanding of mechanical and electrical interface requirements.

Proficiency in MS Office AutoCAD (basic understanding) and Excel-based costing tools.

Excellent communication analytical and negotiation skills.

Ability to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple proposals simultaneously.

Required Skills:

Vendor Sourcing & Evaluation Identify and evaluate suppliers of lab equipment and consumables Conduct market research to stay updated on new technologies and pricing trends Perform site visits and audits to assess supplier capabilities Procurement Management Create and manage purchase orders for lab instruments chemicals and accessories Negotiate pricing delivery timelines and warranty terms Ensure timely delivery and installation of equipment Documentation & Compliance Maintain accurate records of procurement activities contracts and supplier agreements Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements Coordinate with finance for timely vendor payments Inventory Coordination Monitor stock levels and forecast procurement needs Collaborate with lab managers to understand equipment usage and future requirements Supplier Relationship Management Build long-term relationships with key vendors Resolve disputes and ensure service-level agreements are met
