Job Summary
We are currently looking for a full time Transportation Manager for our company in Fairborn OH.
Introduction:
This position is responsible for establishing and maintaining a smooth operation of the Transportation Department. Provides general supervision of all Transportation employees and functional processes within the department. Responsible to maintain a properly staffed and trained department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain effective and timely scheduling of all delivery routes and ensure proper route coverage.
- Responsible for compliance and knowledge with Federal Department of Transportation regulations and other safety standards. Maintain fleet in a safe manner in accordance with company and governmental standards.
- Must be on call during off duty hours and may be required to cover last minute delivery routes.
- Must maintain communication within the transportation team and company management.
- Enforcement of general company policies and issuance of disciplinary documentation to teammates and Management/Human Resources.
- Strong knowledge of Drivers Handbook.
- Knowledge of backhaul procedures.
- Exhibit working knowledge of ELD scanning procedures and Zebra.
- Responsible for hiring and road testing potential route/logistics drivers.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- 2 - 3 years of proven experience in all facets of transportation management preferably in the food distribution industry.
- Must possess and maintain Ohio Class A CDL (manual endorsement as well).
- Strong communication skills with proven ability to work within the framework of a team.
- Proven experience with logistics systems and route scheduling.
- Must possess excellent written and verbal skills.
- Experience with Excel Word XATA or similar programs.
- Must be knowledgeable with DOT regulations and compliance standards.
- Experience in recruiting/hiring training motivating teammates and resolving employee relations issues.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of employees managers and customers.
