Job Summary

Description

The Emergency Department Technician (EDT) assists with patient care based on individual patient needs within the scope of practice under direct supervision of the registered nurse. The EDT provides supportive care to the Emergency Department patients and performs approved procedures per policy. The EDT assists patients with activities of daily living and assists with the maintenance of a safe and clean environment.



Qualifications

Must be 18 years of age prior to start date. Ability to read and communicate effectively in English. Basic computer knowledge. Decision making and problem solving skills spoken and written communication skills and team building skills. Ability to perform duties in a self directed manner. One year of experience as EMT preferred. One year acute care hospital experience preferred. High school graduate or equivalent preferred. Effective July 1 2014 all new Emergency Department Technician hires will be required to have a minimum of a Wisconsin EMT-Basic license. Current BLS certification. Minimum Wisconsin EMT-Basic license. Current BLS certification.
