Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of First Year Experience the FYE Specialist works primarily with the FYE 101: Succeed at the G (new student transition seminar) course. FYE 101 is designed to help new students transition successfully to academic and student life at UNC Greensboro. It is included as a general education course option to fulfill the MAC Foundations competency requirement . As part of the FYE team FYE specialists contribute to the instruction curriculum development and the design of initiatives that support the academic success and retention of UNCGs first-year students.
Minimum Qualifications
Masters degree from an accredited four-year college or university in higher education administration college student personnel student development or a related field completed by May 2025 Minimum of 1 year experience supporting and working with first-year college students Ability to create engaging and interactive learning experiences including (but not limited to) lesson plans presentations and workshops Experience working effectively with diverse student populations Excellent oral written and interpersonal skills Ability to work both independently and effectively as a member of a team
Preferred Qualifications
Experience developing and teaching college-level courses especially at the first-year level Experience working directly with first-year transition seminar courses transition and retention programs or mentoring/coaching in the college environment
