To develop practical actionable Eco Design Guidelines that can be used throughout the product development process. These guidelines aim to reduce the environmental impact of our products throughout their lifecycle by incorporating sustainability principles into design decisions. The work should be tailored towards DeLavals product portfolio and based on established Eco Design frameworks. The thesis project should also include proposals on how to improve the integration of sustainability into DeLavals product development process.
Eco Design Guidelines are structured recommendations and best practices that help engineers and designers create products with a lower environmental footprint. This can include guidance on material selection energy efficiency durability reparability recyclability and end-of-life considerationsensuring sustainability is integrated from the very beginning of the design process.
Sustainability is among the top prioritized questions for companies globally and an increasing number of companies have set ambitious targets to decrease Greenhouse Gas Emissions in line with the Paris agreement. For DeLaval a world leader within equipment for dairy farming sustainability lies in our roots We make sustainable food production possible. Having a long history in development and manufacturing serving a global market of innovative products we are continuously working to improve the sustainability of our company and our products.
Our GHG emissions show that most of our emissions come from our products specifically from the energy consumption of our products during use and extracting the raw materials used in our products. Therefore developing specific guidance on how to reduce the impact of our products is crucial to reduce emissions.
For this work we are looking for two ambitious students who want to use their engineering skills to develop Eco Design guidelines and proposals on how to integrate sustainability further in DeLavals development process.
