Downers Energy & Utilities has a new created and exciting opportunity for a Trade Coachto support the teams across theNorthwest - Central Contractfor Powerco. This role has the flexibility to be based in New Plymouth Hawera or Whanganui with the expectation of travel across the region.
The key purpose of this role is to support the teams to ensure they construct and maintain the Powerco network to the highest standards of technical performance safety and compliance across our electrical distribution operations. Youll play a key role in mentoring field crews delivering technical training on build standards and conduct internal audits to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.

We are ideally looking for a trade-qualified professional with a strong background in electrical distribution or maintenance contracting. You may be someone who has more than likely been on the tools is wanting to step back and is keen to use all your knowledge and experience to help others succeed. Our people pride themselves on delivering quality work for our customers and investing in this mentoring role is critical to our ongoing success. This dynamic role will improve our build consistency ensure we work safely while reducing unnecessary and costly rework.
Youll bring:
An understanding through experience of the electrical distribution network both in construction and maintenance
Experience or the ability to coach and mentor teams youll love engaging with people and will have a passion to impart your knowledge to others.
Strong knowledge of safety regulations codes of practice and electrical standards
Excellent communication observation and reporting skills
Proficiency with computers and the ability to learn to use audit tools reporting software and digital training platforms
A proactive self-motivated approach with high attention to detail and a continuous improvement mindset
Your responsibilities will include:
Delivering training sessions and on-site coaching to field staff
Facilitating onboarding for new trade staff
Conducting routine and ad hoc audits of field work and processes
Preparing audit reports and monitoring corrective actions
Engaging with stakeholders including supervisors project managers and client representatives
