At the Department of Finance and Treasury Board we work to preserve the financial capacity of the Provinces programs and services by providing the Government of Nova Scotia advice on fiscal sustainability. We strive to provide financial leadership analysis and policy development to ensure government priorities are well coordinated and fiscally responsible. As stewards of the Provinces financial affairs we deliver a wide range of corporate fiscal management services including the preparation of the provincial budget financial accounting and reporting forecasting borrowing lending financial advisory taxation and gaming pension and financial institution regulation.
Reporting to the Associate Deputy Minister the Executive Director Policy and Budgetary Planning is accountable for providing strategic leadership for provincial budgetary and fiscal planning; coordination and analysis of provincial revenues; meeting departmental obligations related to the implementation of government-wide policy planning and reporting requirements; oversight of federal-provincial-territorial relationships and support to the Minister Executive Deputy Minister and Associate Deputy Minister at intergovernmental forums; and departmental policy and planning as well as support for governance oversight of Crown agencies and corporations for which the Minister of Finance and Treasury Board is responsible.
This position also has oversight responsibilities for the Departments information management administrative services and facility and operations management.
The ideal candidate will have a bachelors degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. political science economics business administration finance law) plus 7 years of related experience; or a masters/post-graduate designation in a relevant discipline. They will also have several years of progressive leadership experience with a minimum of 5 years in a professional/management role.
An acceptable equivalent combination of education training and experience may be considered.

Normal work week is 35 hours/week 7 hours/day.
May be required to work overtime on occasion.
Pay Grade: EC 16
Salary Range: $5556.38- $6945.46Bi-Weekly
