Are you detail-oriented driven and ready to make a real impact through numbers TheDepartment of Customer Services Division of Motor Vehicles is hiring an Accountant I to help manage key State-funded programs like motor vehicle registration weight tax and registration this role youll assist with financial reporting balance ledgers reconcile accounts and help strengthen internal controlsall under the guidance of an experienced Accountant IV. What Youll Do
  • Assist with balancing and reconciling daily cashier collection reports from various departments to ensure they are accurate and comply with regulations.
  • Learn to balance and reconcile daily reports from online and third-party vendors to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations.
  • Under supervision maintain accurate accounts for the revenue and expenses generated by State-funded programs.
  • Assist in verifying the accuracy and processing of refund invoices ensuring timely payment.
  • Balance and reconcile ledgers and subsidiary accounts to ensure the accuracy of fiscal records under close supervision.
  • Learn to prepare and review financial statements and statistical reports for State-funded programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Upon successful completion of probation and demonstration of satisfactory work performance and required years ofexperience at each level an Accountant I may progress upward to higher levels.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

At time of application you must be a citizen national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation froman accredited four-year college or universitywith major work in accounting or a related field with at least 12 semester credit hours in accounting or auditing courses. (Note: Six of the 12 credits must be above the elementary course level and from a regionally-accredited four-year college or university.)

Substitution: Work experience may be substituted for the bachelors degree on a year-for-year basis. Such experience must have provided the knowledge skills and analytical ability normally gained from attainment of a bachelors degree in accounting or a related field with courses in accounting.

The education requirement must be met at the time of application. Education obtained outside of the United States must be comparable to a degree earned at an accredited college/university in the United order to receive credit for the education proper documentation e.g. a foreign credential evaluation (FCE) must be provided. We also reserve the right to request further information about your academic program evidence of comparability or an original transcript.
