Job Summary

Mission:Sacred Heart School a sponsored ministry of the Sisters of Divine Providence is a private Catholic co-educational learning community. The school welcomes two year old children through grade eight to a respectful community which is academically challenging and rooted in the Gospel. Students develop critical thinking skills engage in service to those in need broaden their awareness of global perspectives and make Gods Providence Overview: The Sacred Heart Elementary School and Sacred Heart Early Childhood Center are divisions of Sacred Heart School System which is sponsored by the Sisters of Divine Providence. A teacher at Sacred Heart Elementary School/Early Childhood Center is responsible for creating a faith-based safe nurturing and innovative learning environment with a strong focus on wellness. The teacher works collaboratively and communicates effectively with all members of the Sacred Heart community including students parents faculty administrators and staff in creating a culture that is respectful welcoming and engaging and inspires a love for learning. The physical education teacher engages students in sport competitions or other physical activity. Beyond that the physical education teacher will stress the importance of maintaining a healthy way of life through both exercise and positive lifestyle Physical Education Teacher is a full-time position and also handles the soccer Responsibilities and Duties:It is the job of the physical education teacher to involve students equally and to plan activities that benefit all students. The teacher is to be a coach referee teammate and motivator. At Sacred Heart the physical education teacher engages the class in both team sports and individual activities while explaining the safe and correct way to engage in physical fitness. Specific responsibilities and duties of the Physical Education Teacher include: Prepare developmentally appropriate instruction and wellness and physical education objectives and outlines for grade level PE curriculum following guidelines and requirements of school. Prepare students for later grades by encouraging them to explore learning opportunities and to persevere with challenging tasks. Adapt curriculum to the needs of the students with varying abilities and to accommodate a variety of instructional activities. Establish and maintain standards of student behavior necessary to provide for an orderly and productive learning environment including direct instruction in good sportsmanship. Develop positive and open communications and partnerships with parents and guardians to benefit their student(s). Confer with parents or guardians teachers counselors and administrators in order to resolve any behavioral and academic problems. Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required.
