The Department of Natural Resources Division of Forestry & Fire Protectionis recruiting for an Accounting Technician 3 in Anchorage.


This position is open to Alaska Residents only.

What You Will Be Doing:

Under the direction of the Administrative Operations Manager and the Accountant 3 this position works independently to provide full proficiency accounting services to support the Forestry Program such as:

  • Program accounting
  • Analysis
  • Reconciliation
  • Corrective actions
  • Interagency accounting

We are looking for a candidate who possesses the following position-specific competencies.

  • Principles of Accounting: Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles standards and practices (for example double entry accounting accrual accounting) including the full accounting cycle and the preparation of work sheets financial statements ledgers and journals.
  • Analysis and Assessment: Uses information technology in accessing collecting analyzing maintaining and disseminating data and information.
  • Computer Skills: Uses computers software applications databases and automated systems to accomplish work.

Minimum Qualifications

Two years of technical level accounting or bookkeeping experience of which at least one year was at the full-proficiency level.

Substitutions:
Certification as an Accounting Technician from an accredited college will substitute for one year of the required experience at the non-full-proficiency level.

Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for up to one year of the required experience at the non-full-proficiency level (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month) if it includes at least 6 semester/8 quarter hours in Accounting.

Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for the required two years of experience (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month) if it includes at least 9 semester/12 quarter hours at or above the 200 level in Accounting.

An associates degree in Accounting or Business Administration from an accredited college will substitute for the required two years of experience if it includes at least 6 semester/8 quarter hours at or above the 200 level in Accounting.
