Tallaght University Hospital (TUH) is a model 4 voluntary academic teaching hospital partnered with Trinity College and situated in south west Dublin. With a staff of over 4000 people from 63 different countries it provides both acute and tertiary care to an increasing population of circa 800000 people and is a provider of local regional and national specialties. It is also a National Urology Centre the second largest provider of dialysis services in the country Pelvic and Acetabulum National Centre and a designated Trauma Unit.
The Hospital is part of the newly established HSE Dublin & Midlands Region which serves a population of over 1.2 million across seven counties and operates under the governance of an independent Board of Directors who give their time on a voluntary basis. TUH is also supported by the Adelaide Health Foundation the Meath Foundation and Tallaght University Hospital Foundation.

The Grade VII will be responsible for co-ordination of the scheduled care function on main site Reeves Day Surgery Centre and Endoscopy.
Overview of role:
Key Duties and Responsibilities- Supervision & Management of Staff including general office management ensuring that services are delivered efficiently and in line with Corporate Objectives
- Review and analyse clinical administrative resource requirements across critical services and be responsive to service developments
- Develop a training and education plan encompassing mandatory corporate and personal development objectives to realise the capabilities and contribution of all staff
- Manage the performance of staff within remit identifying underperformance and taking corrective actions as appropriate
- Promote a culture of dignity respect and fairness and seek to eliminate all forms of discrimination
- Making decisions in relation to service delivery on a daily basis
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other departments and directorates
- Continuously monitoring existing procedures to ensure they comply with best practice and the development of new/improved procedures where appropriate
- Effective management of waiting lists for inpatients day cases and endoscopy devising and implementing strategies to effectively manage reduce and monitor waiting lists in line with national KPIs as set out in NTPF/HSE National Inpatient Day Case Planned Procedure (IDPP) and GI Endoscopy Waiting List Management Protocol (2024)
- Manage the implementation of a Dashboard of metrics that are aligned with the Hospital Dashboard and other metrics that are developed through the NTPF/HSE
- Co-ordinate ongoing validation of relevant waiting lists
- Participate in relevant committee meetings e.g. bed management escalation
- Consistent reporting of waiting times to both local and national stakeholders
- Project Management as required
- Use all technology and equipment assigned and complete all essential training successfully
- To undertake any other duties of a similar level and responsibilities as may be required from time to time
General accountability:- Commitment to continuous professional development including completion of relevant internal training programmes available through our Centre for Learning & Development Prospectus.
Leadership and staff management:- Completion of relevant training and availing of supports in the Leadership Academy including coaching mentoring and leadership development as applicable.
Qualifications & Experience required
Must have: - Degree in relevant field
- 5 years relevant experience
- Minimum of 2 years Supervisory / Management experience
- Practical experience of use of IT systems / packages
- Fluent command and understanding of the English language to include spoken and written word.
Desirable: - Clinical qualification
- Masters in a relevant field
- Experience in the Health Sector environment
Reward & Recognition- Remuneration is in accordance with the Department of Health Consolidated Salary Scales 1st August 2025
60013 - 78015 (incl x2 LSI)- The appointment is fulltime permanent and pensionable.
- The annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year. The leave year runs from 1st April to the 31st of March each year
- Normal working hours are 35 worked over 5 days. Your contracted hours of work are liable to change between the hours of 8 am to 8 pm over 7 days to meet the requirements for extended day services in accordance with the terms of the Framework Agreement
