Job Summary

The Assistant Athletic Trainer is responsible for assisting with the organization management and development of the Universitys intercollegiate sports medicine program.

Position Summary

Essential Functions

  • Providing emergency care injury evaluation treatment and rehabilitation of varsity injuries under the supervision and guidelines of the team physician
  • Assisting in the day to day operations of the training room
  • Assisting with the administrative responsibilities of budgeting ordering and inventory control
  • Overseeing the primary care coverage for Varsity teams as designated by the Director of Sports Medicine
  • Assisting with the development and implementation of the policies and procedures as related to the Sports Medicine Department
  • Assisting with treatments of all varsity student-athletes when necessary
  • Assisting with the coordination of all physical examinations medical insurance and other medical administrative forms
  • Directing and educating of student athletic trainers
  • Compiling relevant statistical information for post injury strength testing and injury rates
  • Overseeing special events and summer camp training responsibilities as designated by the Director of Sports Medicine
  • Providing other team and training room coverage as assigned
  • Maintaining a high degree of professionalism which fosters growth of the department and a high perception of the division

    Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills required including communication and public relations.
  • In-depth understanding of the sport from the fundamental skills to advanced tactics and strategy
  • Implement and model a personal and professional growth strategy for Student-Athletes and assistant coaches by learning and developing new techniques to support personal growth and knowledge attainment
  • The ability to positively motivate
  • Commitment to the academic success of Student-Athletes
  • Ability to be flexible to an ever-evolving athletic landscape

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Athletic Training/Sports MED
  • Experience in the field of athletic training
  • NATABOC certified CPR/AED certification
  • Must possess knowledge specific to the field of athletic training.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters Degree
  • 1-3 years experience at D-I level
  • Ability to work with insurance companies to insure payment ability to follow University procurement policy broad knowledge of prescription medications.

Working Environment

  • Standard office environment.
  • Noise level is quiet to moderate.

Physical Activities

  • Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period.
  • Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs. with assistance.

Work Schedule
Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Salary Grade Number:
The salary grade for the position is 9.

Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is $58000-$65000

The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate departmental budget availability internal salary equity considerations and available market information but not based on a candidates sex or any other protected status.
