The HIM Manager is responsible for leading and directing health information management services across the multi-facility integrated healthcare delivery system striving for compliance and promoting best practices and education in all areas. This is accomplished by compiling processing and maintaining medical records in a manner consistent with medical administrative ethical legal and regulatory requirements.
Regulatory/Educational Requirements:
- Masters or bachelors degree in health information management or related field preferred.
- Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) required within one year of hire.
- Previous related operational experience preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in Health Information Management.
- Knowledge of the regulatory agencys requirements.
Supervisor Responsibilities:
- Supervise on a day-to-day basis the entire staff of the HIM Department.
- Set goals for performance and deadlines in ways that comply with companys plans and vision and communicate them to subordinates.
- Organize workflow and ensure that employees understand their duties or delegated tasks.
- Monitor employee productivity and provide constructive feedback and coaching.
- Receive complaints and resolve problems.
- Maintain timekeeping and personnel records.
- Pass on information from upper management to employees and vice versa.
- Prepare and submit performance reports.
- Decide on reward and promotion based on performance.
- Hire and train new employees.
- Ensure adherence to legal and company policies and procedures and undertake disciplinary actions if the need arises.
Language Skills:
- Able to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing.
- Additional languages preferred.
Skills:
- Excellent customer service skills
- Strong communication skills.
