The Department of Computer Science (CS) at the University of Alabama at Birmingham ( UAB ) is seeking candidates with expertise in cyber security for a tenured associate professor position holding the Phyllis and David Brasfield Endowed Faculty Scholarship starting Fall 2026. Candidates are required to have a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science or a closely related field and demonstrate an excellent track record in conducting world-class scholarly research in cyber security as evidenced by peer reviewed publications in high-quality journals and conferences. Candidates are required to demonstrate evidence of success in obtaining competitive research addition they are required to have an outstanding track record in teaching at both graduate and undergraduate levels and in the successful supervision of PhD students. Further they are preferred to demonstrate an outstanding track record in leadership for scholarly research including collaborations with academia industry and government partners. The CS Department at UAB offers Ph.D. MS BS and BA programs. The Department has a strong research focus and a strong commitment to teaching service and outreach. The Department plays a leadership role in the Center for Cyber Security. Collaborations with UABs medical enterprise are strong with many opportunities for faculty to participate in interdisciplinary work.
