The YWCA Greater Harrisburg is seeking a full-time professional to join our team as a Counselor and Support Group Facilitator.
The Counselor and Support Group Facilitator provides trauma-informed empowerment-based emotional support and advocacy to survivors of domestic violence sexual assault and related forms of trauma. This role offers individual empowerment-based counseling and facilitates support groups for survivors and non-offending loved ones. The Counselor and Support Group Facilitator works collaboratively with the advocacy team to ensure survivors receive comprehensive compassionate and culturally responsive services that promote resilience and recovery.
Position Details:- Starting Salary $20.51/hr.
- Working Hours: 11am-7pm or 12pm - 8pm
Successful Candidates Will Demonstrate:
- A professional respectful and inclusive attitude.
- Accountability and strong self-motivation.
- A track record of meeting goals and objectives.
- Calm adaptable responses in crisis situations.
- Experience in crisis intervention or counseling services.
- Strong organizational time management and documentation skills.
- Clear and effective verbal and written communication.
- Knowledge of victim advocacy trauma and trauma-informed care.
- Familiarity with community resources legal systems and law enforcement.
- Proficiency with computers and ability to learn new case management software.
Position Requirements:- Bachelors degree in social work psychology human services or a related field with 2 years relevant experience in counseling or direct service work in a human/social services setting.
- Priorexperience in providing advocacy social work human services or other supportive services.
- Demonstrated understanding of empowerment-based survivor-centered and trauma-informed approaches.
- Must have a reliable vehicle for travel within Dauphin and Perry Counties with a valid Drivers License.
- Please note: Vehicle is for transportation of employee only - no client transport.
- Mileage is reimbursed.
- Must possess current FBI Child Abuse and State Police Clearances.
