A Brief OverviewResponsible to lead the operations of the designated pharmacy department. Plans organizes and leads all operational department functions and activities including quality performance improvement operational policy and procedure and financial management. Coordinates workflow with other team members to ensure a productive and efficient environment. Oversees drug collection reviews audits reports follow up and presentations to the P&T and Medical staff committees. Performs consults and education to healthcare professionals and patients. Coordinates all aspects of drug purchasing contracts agreements and inventory management. Assists with analysis collection and maintenance of records as needed for all regulatory agencies. Responsible for all aspects of the Pharmacy IS system.
What you will do
- Accurately interprets and evaluates physicians medication orders compounds and dispenses medications manages drug purchasing and inventory management.
- Evaluates medication therapy of patients and makes recommendations to physicians to provide the best possible therapy for the patient in the most efficient manner while maintaining ASHP standards of Pharmaceutical Care.
- Counsels patients on the proper usage effects and side effects of medication.
- Prepares program content and presents educational presentations to health professionals.
- Identifies evaluates and documents all reported adverse drug reactions. Presents completed drug reviews and audits to P&T committee and Medical staff committee and completes follow up to action items identified.
- Provides formal pharmacy consults pharmacokinetic consults and nutrition consults upon request by physicians.
- Conducts detailed drug literature review of new drugs and makes recommendations to the P&T Committee on hospital formulary status.
- Responsible for all activities related to the design and maintenance of the Pharmacy computer IS systems. Including: module parameters dictionaries formulary operating policies and procedures menus personnel training software testing and quality assurance.
- Accountable for the ongoing operations of the department in regard to established safety/quality standards established goals and objectives efficiency and productivity standards financial performance (including budget and expense management) contracting and purchasing and participates in the review development communication and monitoring of department policies and procedures.
- Assists with the analysis collection of and maintenance of records as needed for all state and federal regulatory agencies.

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily including having visual acuity adequate to perform position duties and the ability to communicate effectively with others hear understand and distinguish speech and other sounds. Required Education License/Certification or Work Experience:
- Pharmacist - Board of Pharmacy active in state of practice Upon Hire
Preferred Education License/Certification or Work Experience:
- Doctorate (PHD) Pharmacy degree
