Role Specifics and Benefits
As an OR RN in this assignment youll be integral to the perioperative team delivering high-quality patient care from preoperative screening through postoperative recovery while maintaining strict adherence to sterile technique and hospital protocols.

Key responsibilities
- Prepare the operating room for scheduled and emergent cases ensuring all equipment is sterile functional and readily available.
- Maintain aseptic technique assist the surgeon and align with the scrub role to pass instruments manage counts and anticipate needs during complex procedures.
- Lead preoperative patient assessment verify consent and allergies review imaging and labs and provide clear explanations to patients and families about procedures and expected recovery.
- Monitor patient status intraoperatively coordinate with anesthesia providers adjust equipment and devices as needed and respond promptly to physiologic changes.
- Facilitate safe patient transfer to the PACU monitor recovery milestones manage pain control plans and provide postoperative education to patients and caregivers.
- Document accurately in electronic medical records ensure compliance with privacy and safety standards and contribute to unit-based quality improvement initiatives.
- Participate in OR turnover sterilization workflows inventory management and equipment checks to optimize efficiency and reduce delays.
- Engage in ongoing professional development within the OR specialty including evidence-based practices new techniques and interprofessional collaboration.
