Transportation Program Manager (Seattle WA)

Full Time (1.0 FTE) Salary/Exempt

Year Long Schedule

The Bush School a K-12 progressive independent school located in Seattle WA is in search of an individual to join our Facilities Department as a Transportation Program Manager. We are seeking a candidate who is able to support the schools mission of diversity and inclusion and who has a background that demonstrates an understanding and appreciation of intercultural fluency. The Transportation Program Manager reports to the Facilities Director and is responsible for the planning implementation and management of all transportation services at The Bush School. This role oversees the transportation and parking operations ensuring the safe efficient and reliable transportation of students staff and community members. The Transportation Program Manager also develops and maintains relationships with vendors ensures regulatory compliance and implements initiatives to improve transportation services.

While other duties may be assigned a qualified candidate will be able to manage the key responsibilities and duties listed below:

Manage all aspects of transportation operations including vehicle maintenance and driver management. This includes The Bush Schools outsourced daily bus program and the schools fleet.

Manage a fleet of approximately 20 vehicles including buses vans and trailers used for daily operations athletics Outdoor Ed and other school programs.

Budget & Financial Oversight: Manage and monitor the transportation budget including fuel maintenance vehicle procurement and vendor contracts. Track expenses identify cost efficiencies and prepare reports to support decision-making and long-term planning.

Regulatory Compliance & Incident Response: Maintain up

-to-date knowledge of federal state and local transportation regulations including DOT and FMCSA rules and school bus/passenger vehicle safety standards. Serve as the point of contact for any transportation-related incidents including accidents vehicle breakdowns or safety concerns and implement appropriate follow-up procedures.

Implement school policies and procedures to promote a safe transportation environment.

Develop plan schedule and administer all triennial van/bus driver trainings; annually update driver training materials manuals and quizzes.

Manage fleet inspections ongoing maintenance and vehicle records and ensure fleet appearance appropriately reflects The Bush School standards and reputation.

Perform minor maintenance; check and maintain fluid levels replace batteries ensure all vehicle lights are operable and vehicles are sufficiently fueled cleaned and organized. Regularly inspect garage for safety security and equipment issues.

Ensure smooth traffic coordination and parking on and near campus at drop-off and pick-up as well as school events through training station assignments parking compliance and promotion of alternative modes of transportation.

Design implement and maintain systems for transportation records including but not limited to driver training history abstract pulls accident history fleet maintenance service and repair as well as parking infractions.

Serve as the neighborhood and school point-of-contact for all transportation-related inquiries complaints emails and phone calls for current and prospective families employees and community members.

Collect and use data to continually identify improvements to the transportation programs and services including the preparation and distribution of the annual transportation report.

Lead the development and implementation of longer-term transportation and parking plans that are in alignment with the schools goals and priorities.

Serve as an on-call after-hours emergency support for all school transportation needs.

Perform other duties as assigned

Experience and Professional Competencies:

Bachelors degree is preferred

Program or project management experience three or more years

Strong commitment to diversity equity and inclusion is required

Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repair

Familiarity with vehicle and roadway laws and ordinances

Background in driver training education is preferred

Additional Requirements:

Have a current Adult and Children CPR First Aid and AED Certification (or receive one soon after hire date provided by the school)

Washington State Drivers License

Meet the schools standards when completing two separate background screenings

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Compensation/Benefit Information for this position:

Salary Range: $80000-$90000 (based on years of experience)
