Clinical Responsibilities:
- Collect record and maintain comprehensive patient information and medical histories.
- Prescribe or administer treatment medical therapy medications vaccinations and other specialized psychiatric care to treat or prevent illness disease or injury.
- Order perform and interpret diagnostic tests; analyze medical records reports and examination findings to diagnose conditions.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
- Explain procedures test results and prescribed treatments to patients and their families.
- Refer patients to appropriate medical specialists or other healthcare providers when needed.
- Provide crisis intervention and urgent psychiatric evaluations.
- Collaborate with primary care providers therapists and case managers to ensure integrated care.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Attend and actively contribute to monthly medical staff meetings.
- Complete peer reviews for Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Physician Assistants (PAs).
- Respond to documentation requests from third-party payers in a timely manner.
- Supervise assigned NPs PAs and Advanced Practice Nurses (APNs).
- Maintain continuing education units (CEUs) required for Indiana medical licensure.
- Maintain a valid DEA license.
- Ensure credentialing with all applicable managed care contracts by completing necessary paperwork promptly.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
- Completion of an accredited Psychiatry Residency Program.
- Certificate or Professional License:
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry.
- Active unrestricted Indiana medical license.
- Prescriptive Authority in Indiana (DEA License).
