About the International School of Texas
In September 2013 The International School of Texas was founded by a group of 13 brave parents who shared a common vision of an exceptional education for their children: one that is marked by free thought equal opportunity and the development of our core values of Respect Integrity Confidence Intellect and Service. Over the years that passed IST quickly outgrew its initial location and moved into a newly completed campus west of August of 2024 we opened the doors to our new state-of-the-art campus in the rolling hills of Bee Cave and we launched our first cohort of high school students.
Since 2017 IST has been an authorized International Baccalaureate World School currently offering the PYP and MYP. We are a candidate school for the Diploma Programme*. The International School of Texas is a candidate school for the Diploma Programme. IB World Schools share a common philosophya commitment to high-quality challenging international educationthat we believe is important for our students. *Only schools authorized by the IB Organization can offer any of its four academic programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP) the Middle Years Programme (MYP) the Diploma Programme (DP) or the Career-related Programme (CP). Overview
The International School of Texas (IST) is seeking a qualified Reading Specialist to provide targeted literacy support to students across Kindergarten through High School. This position plays a key role in strengthening student reading achievement through evidence-based intervention data-driven instruction and collaboration with classroom teachers.
Key Responsibilities
Provide individualized and small-group reading intervention for students who require additional support.
Deliver structured multi-sensory instruction aligned with Orton-Gillingham methodologies.
Implement programs such as Take Flight or Basic Language Skills (BLS).
Conduct diagnostic assessments and progress monitoring to guide instruction and measure growth.
Collaborate with classroom teachers to develop accommodations strategies and resources for literacy support.
Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate updates to teachers and administrators.
Participate in school-wide literacy initiatives and professional development sessions.
Qualifications
CALP or CALT certification preferred.
Training and experience in Orton-Gillingham methodology required; experience with Take Flight and BLS programs strongly preferred.
Demonstrated experience working with diverse age groups (KindergartenHigh School).
Knowledge of assessment tools and data-driven instructional planning.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Commitment to ISTs mission of fostering integrity confidence and intellect in students.
