Overview
The International School of Texas (IST) is seeking a qualified Reading Specialist to provide targeted literacy support to students across Kindergarten through High School. This position plays a key role in strengthening student reading achievement through evidence-based intervention data-driven instruction and collaboration with classroom teachers.
The International School of Texas (IST) is seeking a qualified Reading Specialist to provide targeted literacy support to students across Kindergarten through High School. This position plays a key role in strengthening student reading achievement through evidence-based intervention data-driven instruction and collaboration with classroom teachers.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individualized and small-group reading intervention for students who require additional support.
- Deliver structured multi-sensory instruction aligned with Orton-Gillingham methodologies.
- Implement programs such as Take Flight or Basic Language Skills (BLS).
- Conduct diagnostic assessments and progress monitoring to guide instruction and measure growth.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to develop accommodations strategies and resources for literacy support.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate updates to teachers and administrators.
- Participate in school-wide literacy initiatives and professional development sessions.
Qualifications
- CALP or CALT certification preferred.
- Training and experience in Orton-Gillingham methodology required; experience with Take Flight and BLS programs strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience working with diverse age groups (KindergartenHigh School).
- Knowledge of assessment tools and data-driven instructional planning.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Commitment to ISTs mission of fostering integrity confidence and intellect in students.
Schedule and Compensation
- Part-time to start with the potential to expand to full-time based on need and performance.
- Compensation commensurate with experience and qualifications.
