DescriptionA grant-funded Bioinformatician position is available in a lab in the Windreich Department of AI and Human Health at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. The Bioinformatician will work with a group of researchers on innovative analyses of genetic disease in electronic health records (EHR). The individual will support research projects by delivering bioinformatics services for medical genetic and multi-omic data. Thespecificproject supported by this position focuses on using machine learning and AI methods to detect undiagnosed rare genetic disease in medical databases including Mount Sinai patients. The ideal candidate will have strong statistical and programming proficiencies with proven expertise in machine learning and deep learning. Good organization and communication skills with demonstrated ability to productively work as a member of a team. Strong verbal and written communication skills in English are required.
Responsibilities- Conducts statistical and genetic analyses
- Uses software to gather store manipulate and analyze research data
- Develops and evaluates predictive models of rare genetic disease
- Work independently on a variety of bioinformatics analysis projects to support efforts in the lab
- Participate in the preparation of manuscripts and presentations
- Other related duties as assigned
Qualifications- B.S. in Biological Sciences Bioinformatics Computer Sciences Statistics or related discipline; M.S. preferred
- 3 years experience required
- Working experience with genetics or statistics analysis software and online resources. Experience in programming environments such as Matlab R statistical package BioConductor Perl or C.
