4th Grade Science

Southwest Elementary School is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated 4th Grade Science Teacher to inspire students with a love for scientific inquiry and discovery. The teacher will be responsible for providing high-quality engaging and hands-on science instruction that aligns with state and district curriculum guidelines. This role requires excellent classroom management a commitment to data-driven instruction and collaboration with colleagues to foster a positive and rigorous learning environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Instruction and Curriculum

• Develop and deliver standards-based science instruction to 4th-grade students using district-adopted instructional materials and approved resources.

• Plan and execute engaging experiments projects and inquiry-based activities that encourage student curiosity critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners including students with diverse learning styles special education needs and English language learners.

• Ensure that lessons integrate scientific practices and foundational concepts to build a cohesive understanding of the natural world.

• Utilize instructional technology to enhance student engagement and scientific understanding.

Assessment and Data

• Design and administer a variety of formative and summative assessments to measure student growth and mastery of science content.

• Analyze student performance data to inform instructional planning and make necessary adjustments to improve learning outcomes for all students.

• Maintain accurate and complete records of student progress attendance and grades as required by school and district policy.

Classroom Environment and Safety

• Establish and maintain a positive safe and respectful learning environment that encourages all students to actively participate in science.

• Implement effective classroom management techniques and school-wide discipline policies to ensure a productive learning atmosphere.

• Enforce lab and classroom safety procedures for all hands-on activities and maintain an organized inventory of science equipment and supplies.

Professionalism and Collaboration

• Collaborate with the 4th-grade team school staff and administration to align curriculum and work toward shared school goals.

• Actively participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in elementary science education.

• Communicate regularly and effectively with parents/guardians about student progress assignments and classroom expectations through conferences written reports and digital communication.

• Attend all required faculty meetings school-wide events (e.g. Back to School Night Open House) and professional learning community meetings.
