Our client a top regional law firm is seeking a Trust & Retainer Accountant to oversee and manage all trust accounting operations in full compliance with legal ethical and regulatory standards. This position plays a vital role in maintaining the integrity of client trust accounts and ensuring accurate financial reporting for the firm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage client trust accounts in accordance with state bar regulations and firm policies
- Record and monitor all trust transactions including deposits disbursements wires and transfers
- Prepare and distribute accurate trust balance reports for attorneys and clients
- Perform and review monthly trust account reconciliations promptly resolving any discrepancies
- Partner with attorneys and staff to ensure proper handling of client funds
- Support audits and regulatory reviews related to trust accounting
- Maintain compliance with IOLTA (Interest on Lawyer Trust Accounts) requirements
- Generate financial and compliance reports for internal and external stakeholders
- Assist with general accounting duties as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field
- Minimum 3 years of trust accounting experience preferably in a law firm environment
- Proficiency with legal accounting software (Elite Aderant or similar)
- Strong organizational analytical and communication skills
- High attention to detail accuracy and the ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment
