The Position
Utility OperatorJob Summary
Summary:
Operate the mills bagger operator car cleaner loader operator when someone is off sick on vacation. Clean on both ends of the plant when not covering people off.
24 hour notice if off shifts must be covered.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Loader
1. Complete pre-shift safety inspection sheet
2. Operate front-end loader to transport and blend clay from various stockpiles to different mills as identified by mill operator according to product specification.
Mill operator
1. Move controls to set specifications and start the machine. Adjust machine feed and speed change cutting tools or adjust machine controls as needed or when automatic programming is faulty/ machines malfunction
2. Perform in-process product testing to ensure quality according to set specifications. Record test results on quality reports submitted to the lab.
3. Observe machine operation and use quality tests (with emphasis on moisture & grind) to make adjustments to controls/ crude mix to ensure conformance within specification tolerances and efficient machine operation.
Bagger
1. Operate Bagger super sacker palletizer and forklift; to include troubleshooting the equipment when running slowly or when it stops running.
2. Clean machinery equipment and work areas to ensure proper functioning and safe working conditions; to include a daily end-of-shift work area cleanup.
3. Manually weigh bags to ensure conformance to specifications.
4. Manually reposition bags on pallets when necessary.
Car cleaner
1. Communicate with Shift Foreman to see what is scheduled to ship.
2. Inspect and clean all railcars.
3. Record all seals and place them on the bottom of the cars.
4. Place blue flags up after the train leaves.
5. Clean work area to ensure proper functioning and safe working conditions.
Plant cleaner
1. Run sweeper
2. Clean assigned areas determined by Plant management
3. Perform other duties as assigned by Plant managment.
Skill/knowledge Requirement:
1. Safety protocols for operating all above mentioned systems.
2. Routine equipment maintenance.
Required Activities: Frequent standing and walking. Carrying and lifting up to 100 lbs.
Education/Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent
