DescriptionNOTE: This job applies to a manager responsible to provide clinical and operational leadership to a front-line clinical patient care department or health program that is delivered through multi-disciplinary health care teams in a hospital and/or community-based direct patient/client care setting. The departments are large with the Manager Clinical Services/Program Operations directly supervising at a minimum Nurses at the Level 4 or 5 classification/wage rate.

Reporting to the Director Access & Flow the Manager Access & Flow is operationally accountable for the Coordinators Site Operations at the site of their employment. The Manager provides leadership to the department and site management team in managing and implementing change and ensures an environment that supports both professional practice and alignment with the organizations culture values and strategic direction. The Manager is accountable for providing support and resolution to complex patient flow issues and maintains an overall perspective of capacity at the site. The Manager will work in partnership with site and regional leadership in order to support patient flow initiatives and optimal transitions in care.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education Training And Experience
A level of education training and experience equivalent to a Bachelors degree in a relevant health discipline andseven (7) years of relevant health care management experience. Appropriate certification license or professionaldesignation. Sound knowledge of systems and best practices that support patient flow through the acute care systemand the principles of lean design and quality improvement.
Skills And Abilities
- Demonstrated skills and abilities in oral and written communication public speaking conflict resolution negotiationmediation and crisis intervention.
- Demonstrated leadership ability in the context of evolving needs and skills in negotiating creative solutions.
- Ability to work effectively with staff physicians and management of various portfolios.
- Ability to develop and nurture an environment where quality improvement principles are embraced and used on acontinuous basis.
- Commitment to collaborative practice and life long learning.
- Ability to apply relevant provincial legislation such as Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act andcontractual agreements.
- Ability to facilitate teamwork and collaboration with diverse groups.
- Ability to balance and adapt to changing priorities and workload pressures.
- Ability to use patient information system programs and operate word processing technology.
- Ability to use software and computer programs to develop quality management reports.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the role.
