About the Job
The Director of Medical Affairs will play a critical role in building and leading core Medical Affairs functions to support Cognitos pipeline and future commercialization efforts. This leader will report to the Chief Medical Officer and drive scientific engagement medical and scientific communication and support the Brain Health Collaboratories while fostering strong partnerships with key external medical and scientific experts and collaborators. Critical to this role will be supporting the commercial launch planning internally and in the BHCs from a medical affairs. The role requires both a clear vision of the medical and scientific strategy and hands-on execution in a fast-paced innovative environment.
Key Responsibilities
Medical & Scientific Communications
- Support the development and execution of Cognitos medical and scientific communications function ensuring alignment with company objectives and evolving standards of care.
- Develop and oversee all medical communication platforms including publication strategy congress planning and data dissemination.
- Translate complex clinical and scientific insights into clear impactful communications for internal and external stakeholders
- Establish and scale the Medical Information function ensuring timely compliant and high-quality responses to healthcare provider inquiries.
- Ensure all promotional and educational materials are scientifically accurate and compliant.
- Collaborate closely with R&D Regulatory Affairs Commercial and Business Development to ensure unified messaging and aligned execution.
Key Opinion Leader (KOL) & External Engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with KOLs investigators and professional societies in Alzheimers and related neurodegenerative diseases.
- Lead advisory boards roundtables and scientific exchange initiatives to capture external insights and strengthen advocacy.
- Serve as a trusted medical voice at congresses symposia and external meetings.
Development of Brain Health Collaboratories (BHC)
- Support strategic partnerships and Brain Health Collaboratories (BHC) including joint scientific initiatives and medical governance.
- Contribute to real-world evidence generation and data gap analysis to strengthen value demonstration.
- Support the commercial launch in the BHCs from a medical affairs perspective.
- Support evidence development activities with other departments and BHCs to prioritize studies and evidence collection to support clinical adoption payer access and professional society guideline inclusion.
Medical Affairs Operations
- Manage Medical Affairs operations including budget vendor partnerships and compliance with regulatory and ethical standards.
- Provide medical/scientific training for internal teams (commercial clinical support staff).
Qualifications
- Advanced degree preferred (MD PharmD or PhD) in a relevant scientific/clinical discipline.
- 810 years of experience in Medical Affairs within biopharma biotech or medical device; neurodegenerative disease expertise strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated success in KOL engagement medical communication and building medical information capabilities.
- Experience collaborating across functions and with external partners (biopharma academic centers consortia).
- Strong leadership communication and organizational skills; thrives in a fast-moving entrepreneurial environment.
- Proven ability to translate complex data into clear impactful narratives.
