Job Summary
This is a remote position.
SUMMARY
We are seeking a skilled and proactive AIX and Storage Administrator to manage and maintain mission-critical UNIX systems and enterprise storage infrastructure. This role is responsible for ensuring high availability performance and security of AIX environments and associated SAN/NAS storage systems. The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in IBM AIX storage technologies and backup solutions with a strong focus on automation and operational excellence.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
AIX Administration
o Install configure and maintain IBM AIX systems (LPARs VIOS NIM).
o Perform system upgrades patching and performance tuning.
o Manage user accounts security policies and system monitoring.
o Troubleshoot and resolve OS-level issues and hardware faults.
o Automate routine tasks using shell scripting or Ansible.
Storage Administration
o Administer and maintain enterprise storage systems with a focus on HPE Alletra platforms and GreenLake cloud services.
o Configure and manage SAN fabric (Brocade/Cisco) including zoning and multipathing.
o Provision and manage storage volumes snapshots and replication across HPE Alletra arrays.
o Monitor performance and capacity utilization; forecast growth and optimize storage tiers.
o Integrate and manage storage within the HPE GreenLake ecosystem including usage analytics cost optimization and compliance reporting.
o Support backup and recovery operations using tools such as Veeam Commvault or HPE Data Protector.
o Collaborate with cloud and virtualization teams to ensure seamless integration of storage resources.
Operational Support
o Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation and incident response.
o Collaborate with systems networking and application teams.
o Maintain documentation for systems configurations and procedures.
o Ensure compliance with security and audit requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience: 5 years of experience in AIX system administration and enterprise storage management.
Certifications: IBM Certified System Administrator AIX preferred; storage vendor certifications a plus.
Skills:
o Strong knowledge of AIX (7.x) LVM NIM and PowerVM.
o Experience with SAN/NAS technologies and Fibre Channel.
o Proficiency in scripting (Bash Python or Ansible).
o Familiarity with ITIL practices and change management.
Preferred Attributes:
o Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
o Strong communication and documentation abilities.
o Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
o Experience in hybrid cloud or virtualization environments is a plus.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Should be willing to accept a long-term work-from-home arrangement.
Should be amenable to a permanent night shift schedule.
