Digital Strategy and Partnering (DSP) is launching the new Digital Internship programme for the Digital Services Division in 2026. The main focus of our intern programme is to give you the opportunity to learn about digital ecosystem including technology process and people in a large organisation. Youll be hands-on for the majority of tasks you complete gaining valuable experience to add to your professional portfolio. Alongside this youll benefit from exceptional professional development to help you stand out in the digital job market after your internship.
Youll have the opportunity to move across some or all of our Digital departments: from IT Assurance & Cyber Security to Information Systems Enterprise Architecture and Digital Projects youll see it all.
Your day-to-day tasks will vary depending on the projects and activities underway. You might be:
Deploying and setting up computers for staff
Researching options and documenting recommendations
Working in one of our datacentres
Investigating systems and updating code
Assisting with campus-wide project work
Supporting staff and students with general enquiries

We are looking for:
Willingness to learn - if you want to learn we can teach you
Some experience in Digital Services - through study work or volunteering
Enjoyment of customer service and interacting with a range of people
Passion for Digital Services and a desire to know more

At the University of Otago youll help empower the future of New Zealand thinkers every day - making learning easier for 21000 students supporting 5000 staff and enabling ground-breaking research. Commencing February 2026 we have a range of part-time and full-time fixed-term positions of up to 12 months based in Ōtepoti Dunedin. Hours will be discussed and agreed with individual candidates.
The salary level for this position is Digital Salary Scale A1.1: $64481 (pro-rata where appropriate)
