| Job Description |
Summary: Seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teacher Assistant to support elementary students with significant disabilities including intellectual behavioral and communication challenges. Working under the supervision of a licensed Special Education Teacher the Teacher Assistant will provide academic behavioral and personal care support in a substantially separate classroom and inclusion settings. The ideal candidate is patient reliable and passionate about helping students gain independence social skills and confidence across school and community environments. What You’ll Do: - Support the implementation of data-driven individualized instruction aligned with IEP and behavior plans.
- Assist with arrival transitions and dismissal of students.
- Provide one-on-one and small group instruction under teacher supervision.
- Prepare instructional materials and assist with adaptive technology and communication devices.
- Support students with personal care needs including toileting feeding mobility and self-care.
- Collect data on student progress and report to teachers and specialists.
- Encourage social emotional and academic skill development.
- Supervise students during classroom lunch and community activities.
- Safely operate or assist with student transportation using LABBB vans as required.
- Uphold mission and core values while maintaining a safe and inclusive classroom environment.
Experience You’ll Need: - High school diploma or GED required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience working with children or young adults particularly in education or human services.
- Ability to support students with a range of disabilities (social emotional non-verbal non-ambulatory etc.).
- Valid driver’s license required; willingness to drive vans between program locations.
- Strong teamwork communication and reliability in diverse educational settings.
