| Job Description |
Summary: The Special Education Teacher will design and implement individualized educational programs that meet the developmental and academic needs of preschool-age children with disabilities. This position requires a licensed educator with strong knowledge of early intervention strategies assistive technology and behavior management techniques. The teacher will work collaboratively with paraprofessionals service providers and families to create a positive supportive learning environment that fosters growth in cognitive communication social and self-help skills. What You’ll Do: - Develop and implement educational plans that comply with federal state and district special education guidelines.
- Collaborate with district and LADSE staff to support each student’s individualized goals and services.
- Provide direction and guidance to paraprofessionals supporting the classroom.
- Plan and deliver daily activities consistent with instructional objectives and IEP goals.
- Use effective intervention strategies and differentiated instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
- Collect and analyze data to develop monitor and adjust behavior management plans.
- Support students with toileting and self-care needs as required.
- Communicate regularly with parents involving them in IEP development and progress updates.
- Incorporate assistive technology and adaptive strategies to enhance student learning.
- Coordinate with outside agencies and related service providers as needed.
- Implement instructional strategies for students on the autism spectrum and those with developmental delays.
- Participate in school and district planning meetings and professional development activities.
Experience You’ll Need: - Illinois Professional Educator License with appropriate early childhood and special education endorsements.
- Experience teaching early childhood or special education within the last three years.
- Strong understanding of early childhood development task analysis and sequential skill building.
- Proficiency with Google Suite and digital tools for instruction and documentation.
- Excellent communication collaboration and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of behavioral interventions and assistive technology for early learners.
