Job Summary:
We are seeking a Data Quality Engineer with strong expertise in data validation ETL testing and analytics quality assurance. The role involves designing developing and maintaining automated and manual testing solutions to ensure data integrity and accuracy across data pipelines warehouses and BI systems. This position requires strong technical skills in SQL Python and modern data testing frameworks as well as the ability to collaborate with Data Engineers Analytics Engineers and business stakeholders in an Agile environment.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Design develop and execute dbt end-to-end tests creating mocked and expected datasets across data layers (bronze to gold).
Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand testing value define quality requirements and communicate testing strategy to engineering teams.
Analyze engineering and analytics requirements to determine testing scope and approach.
Work closely with Data Engineers and Analytics Engineers to understand schema changes business logic and ensure proper test coverage.
Develop maintain and enhance dbt models dbt unit tests dbt end-to-end tests and Pytest scripts for custom validations.
Investigate and troubleshoot failed tests review pull requests and collaborate with engineering teams on issue resolution.
Participate actively in Agile ceremonies and adhere to team communication practices.
Identify and propose process optimization opportunities to enhance data quality and delivery value.
Qualifications and Skills:
Must Have:
7 years of Quality Engineering experience
Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts ETL processes/testing and BI tools
Proficiency in SQL and scripting languages (Python preferred)
Experience with data validation techniques and tools
Solid understanding of testing strategies and version control systems
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Nice to Have:
Familiarity with data pipelines Power BI and Tableau
Exposure to Databricks and cloud environments (AWS Azure or GCP)
Experience with automation testing frameworks
Knowledge of data governance and compliance standards
Role-specific Requirements:
Hands-on experience using VSCode Pytest dbt Databricks Git and Docker
Ability to work as the dedicated QE within a Scrum team alongside Data and Analytics Engineers
Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate business requirements into technical test cases
