About the Role
The Legal Billing Specialist is an integral part of Lathams Global Finance team. This role will be responsible for coordinating the activities of the billing process and performing billing duties with varying levels of complexity while preparing and analyzing client billing requests. This role will be located in ourAustinoffice. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
Other key responsibilities include:
- Creating editing and submitting bills in accordance with firm and client requirements in addition to reviewing proformas handling subsequent corrections and executing e-billing coordination
- Finalizing invoices in line with internal and external regulation and legislation including Value-Added Tax (VAT) Criminal Finances Act Solicitors Accounts Rules and Money Laundering regulations (as applicable)
- Ensuring successful delivery of invoices and coordinating with revenue and e-billing teams for the successful e-billing submission as well as helping resolve rejections and reductions
- Generating and reviewing proformas from 3E (informational and/or billing)
- Utilizing computerized billing and payable software modules to complete the billing process/client refunds while researching and providing information to customers
- Protecting and maintaining any highly sensitive confidential privileged financial and/or proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retains

- Demonstrate well-developed ability to manage own workload and prioritize in order to meet deadlines
- Possess strong technology skills including knowledge of Word Excel and Outlook
And have:
- A high school diploma or equivalent preferably a bachelors degree or equivalent
- Prior legal billing experience in a professional services environment preferably
- Experience using 3E or other financial systems preferably
