Description
The Transportation Authority of Calhoun County (TACC) is looking for an Operations Manager of Fleet and Facilities to plan lead and manage the Authoritys vehicle fleet and all facilities under the Authoritys control. This position is responsible for overseeing and providing direction to the Fleet and Facilities personnel which includes Mechanics and Utility Workers. This position requires close coordination and cooperation with the Operations Manager Flex & Move and the Operations Manager Max. Together the Operations Managers ensure consistent leadership alignment of priorities and effective support for all Supervisors across the organization. Work is performed with minimal supervision from the Director of Operations.
Examples of Duties
- Supervises staff to include: prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring employees follow policies and procedures; and making hiring termination and disciplinary decisions and recommendations.
- Troubleshoots issues and concerns with Fleet and Facilities and ensures service compliance with local state and federal rules and regulations including the ADA.
- Works with the Operations Manager Flex & Move and Operations Manager Max to cooperatively manage operations involving call center scheduling and dispatching.
- Manages internal and external customer service for Fleet and Facilities responding to service inquiries and customer complaints. Ensures appropriate investigation and response to issues and problems. Documents resolutions with customer comment software.
- Creates and implements policies procedures and controls to ensure safe and efficient operational activities and adherence to established service budget and customer satisfaction standards. Recommends changes as needed.
- Prepares and develops annual budget; monitors and approves expenditures in accordance with Authority policies and principles of sound fiscal management. Develops and maintains analytical tools for audit and control of division programs. Analyzes Fleet and Facilities service/operational levels makes recommendations for changes as needed.
- Prepares reports to Senior Management Team Michigan State Department of Transportation American Public Transportation Association and National Transit Database (NTD) as required.
- Conducts and directs a variety of special studies product evaluations and failure cost/benefit repair/replace and similar analyses; provides technical support in the development of specifications for vehicles and equipment.
- Participates and represents vehicle maintenance in a wide variety of internal and external work groups project teams committees and task forces. Makes presentations at board meetings conferences or other events.
- Coordinates warranty administration
Typical Qualifications
- Bachelors/Technical degree in business administration logistics supply chain management automotive or diesel technology or related field.
- Five (5) or more years experience with vehicle and equipment maintenance with at least three (3) years in a supervisory or management capacity.
- Transit Safety and Security Program (TSSP) Certificate within 3 years.
- A combination of education training and extensive experience in a related field that results in demonstrated competency performing the work may be substituted or combined to meet minimum education requirements.
- Strong computer skills with proven competency in Microsoft Word Excel and Outlook.

This work requires the regular exertion of up to 10 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting bending reaching hand dexterity (grasping holding keyboarding repetitive movements) reading writing eye-hand coordination seeing (near and/or far color depth field of vision) hearing using the telephone contact with government officials and the general public working overtime and working inside and alone. Work occasionally requires working near moving mechanical parts exposure to fumes or airborne particles and exposure to outdoor weather conditions. Work is generally in a loud noise location.
