Summary: The VITA Mobile Team Site Coordinator is responsible for the operation of the free tax return preparation program (VITA) at various mobile sites. This position will work with the VITA Director/Manager and often be the primary staff person on site when mobile sites are open. Is also responsible for becoming IRS certified in federal taxes and have advance knowledge of tax laws.
Position Responsibilities:
*Provide onsite supervision support and guidance to tax preparation volunteers
*Ensure that adequate volunteer coverage supplies forms and equipment are maintained at the mobile tax site
*Monitor volunteers to ensure the quality review is being conducted and privacy is maintained
*Support volunteers by answering questions solving problems and correcting errors
*Work with volunteers and taxpayers to address returns that the IRS filing center has rejected
*Attends tax preparation training and becomes certified at the Advanced level
Initiates and completes the Intake/Interview Quality Review form with each assigned taxpayer
Reviews all tax information for relevance accuracy and completion
Ensures compliance with federal IRS rules and regulations
Assist with taxpayer requests and inquiries
Assist in providing a variety of duties involved in supporting the administrative operations of VITA mobile unit
Must be able to work weekends
Follow and uphold the Volunteer Standard of Conduct set forth by the IRS
Must complete all required trainings in a timely manner.
Must be sensitive to the service populations cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
Must adhere to safety training and protocols on a daily basis and taking precautionary measure to ensure the safety and well-being of self and others.
Responsible for protecting the confidentiality of any information or material obtained in the service with the organization to include but not limited to client names and information services rendered to clients donors names and gifts internal and external investigations or results of any investigations and financial information.
Adherence to the Code of Conduct and Employment Policy is mandatory.
