Introduction to role:
Are you ready to dive into the world of medical writing within the pharmaceutical industry As a Medical Writing Intern youll have the chance to shadow experienced writers and learn the intricacies of clinical protocol development. Youll draft sections of clinical protocols and amendments ensuring they meet Alexions high standards. This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to process improvements and template updates. Are you motivated organized and detail-oriented If so this role might be perfect for you!
Accountabilities:
Draft sections of clinical protocols and amendments as assigned by a mentor.
Perform precise editing and proofreading of clinical documents ensuring accuracy in spelling grammar punctuation and data verification.
Ensure quality and timeliness in reviewing and editing clinical documents.
Adhere to Alexion document templates and Style Guide.
Attend and participate in Medical Writing and project team meetings.
Provide an end-of-internship summary presentation.
Essential Skills/Experience:
Currently enrolled full-time in a graduate-level scientific or clinical program Masters PharmD PhD or equivalent. University undergraduate students who have not yet received their BS and are enrolled in a scientific discipline may also be considered.
Experience with various MS Office programs including Word Outlook and PowerPoint.
The ability to fluently read write understand and communicate in English.
Ability to understand clinical scientific and statistical data.
Good interpersonal collaborative and communication skills.
Strong attention to detail.
The duties of this role are generally conducted in an office environment. As is typical of an office-based role employees must be able with or without an accommodation to: use a computer; engage in communications via phone video and electronic messaging; engage in problem-solving and non-linear thought analysis and dialogue; collaborate with others; maintain general availability during standard business hours.
Desirable Skills/Experience:
Previous experience in writing clinical or technical documents.
Experience in clinical research or working with clinical regulatory documents is a plus but not required.

What to Expect:
This role is a 12-month paid contract position which starts in January 2026 and will end in December 2026. Our position will be based in our Mississauga head office and/or our Toronto office (located in the Scotia Plaza) allow for flexible working arrangements working both onsite (2-3 times per week) and virtually.
