This opportunity is with a small people-first HR consulting firm supporting organizations across Ontario. The firm works closely with leaders to build strong HR foundations through clear policies practical tools and thoughtful people practices. The focus is on ethical accessible HR that supports both employees and the business.
This co-op placement is designed for a student who wants meaningful hands-on HR experience in a supportive consulting environment. The intern will work directly with a senior HR professional and mentor contributing to real client work while developing strong foundational HR skills. The role is fully remote and intentionally flexible to support academic commitments.
- Assist with writing and updating employee handbooks policies and HR guides
- Help format and organize HR documentation and templates
- Support onboarding and offboarding documentation and checklists
- Assist with maintaining organized HR files and records
- Help with basic HR project tracking and summaries
- Provide general administrative and writing support related to HR projects
By the end of this placement the student will be able to:
- Understand the structure and purpose of core HR policies and employee handbooks
- Apply Ontario employment standards concepts in practical HR documents
- Develop professional HR writing and documentation skills
- Gain experience supporting multiple client projects in a consulting environment
- Build confidence working independently in a remote professional setting
- Currently enrolled in a Human Resources Business Administration or related program
- Eligible for a co-op or internship placement
- Strong written communication skills and attention to detail
- Comfortable working independently and meeting deadlines
- Interested in learning the practical side of HR through real work
This placement offers direct mentorship from a senior HR consultant who is actively involved in day-to-day client work. Rather than observation-only tasks the intern will contribute to real HR deliverables and gain exposure to how HR operates in practice. The role is intentionally small in hours but high in learning making it ideal for a student looking to build confidence skills and professional judgment early in their HR career.
