Job Summary
Our client a well-established and growing national insurance carrier is seeking an experienced Excess Casualty Underwriter to join their Commercial Lines team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to underwrite complex casualty risks develop strong broker partnerships and contribute to the profitable growth of the companys excess casualty portfolio.
Salary
- $180000 to $220000/year
- Annual bonus target
- Comprehensive benefits package including medical dental vision and 401(k).
Requirements
- Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience required.
- Minimum of 5 years of Excess Casualty underwriting experience within a carrier or MGA environment.
- Strong technical knowledge of commercial casualty coverages including GL Auto and Umbrella/Excess lines.
- Proven ability to analyze complex risks and develop creative underwriting solutions.
- Excellent communication negotiation and relationship management skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional designations such as CPCU RPLU or AU are a plus.
Job Description
- Underwrite and price new and renewal Excess Casualty business in accordance with company underwriting guidelines and risk appetite.
- Evaluate risk characteristics financial condition loss history and exposure details to determine appropriate terms and pricing.
- Manage and develop relationships with wholesale and retail brokers to drive profitable growth and maintain a healthy pipeline.
- Negotiate coverage terms limits and conditions to meet both client needs and company objectives.
- Collaborate with internal teams including claims actuarial and risk engineering to assess risk and ensure sound underwriting decisions.
- Monitor portfolio performance and identify trends or areas for improvement.
- Stay current with market conditions competitor strategies and emerging casualty trends.
