What are we looking for

The Lab Supervisor is responsible for the following:

• Through delegation from the Laboratory Manager and in a safe legal and ethical manner the Laboratory Supervisor oversees the routine analysis testing and other handling of samples thus insuring the accurate and timely collection and reporting of information to clients.

Shift/Schedule: Night Shift 4 on 4 off including Holidays Weekends and On Call Hours

What youll do:

• To communicate monitor and enforce laboratory safety and housekeeping practices
• To organize and prioritize the laboratory work
• To assist in or conduct investigations of discrepancies to resolve problems with clients and to inform Management of required corrective action
• To maintain communication with clients and Management regarding status of samples
• To communicate with Management regarding routine needs of the Laboratory
• To oversee the activities of shipping receiving sample retention and sample disposal
• To provide objective input into Technicians performance reviews.
• To assist in the training efforts of the Company
• To maintain an awareness of the abilities and personality of each technician
• To carry out the above responsibilities and others which may be assigned in a safe and ethical manner and in a fashion which demonstrates support for the Companys Quality Policy Business Ethics Policy Vision and Strategy and to exercise good judgement common sense and diplomacy in so doing

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:

• The Laboratory Supervisor is expected to be competent in the routine operation of a petroleum testing laboratory to have at least 1 year of practical laboratory experience and to have at least a high school education
• The Laboratory Supervisor should have a positive attitude a high tolerance for job pressure and long hours and the ability for working and communicating with persons of diverse personalities and backgrounds.
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Strong leadership skills
• Understanding of the significance of the data generated by test methods.
• Petroleum/Petrochemical testing experience
• Ability to manage personnel to achieve the quality system training safety and financial goals of the office
• Ability to lead and motivate employees to actively support the objectives of the laboratory
• Ability to remain objective in adverse situations with a high level of personal and business ethics

Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:

• Past experience with office applications I.E Microsoft Word Excel etc.
• Ability to work weekends and overtime hours as needed
• Three (3 ) years experience in hydrocarbon testing is preferred
• Some experience in LPG Testing is preferred
