Essential Functions

  • Attend all class meetings of the selected course take notes do homework and read all assigned materials including text(s) and supplemental readings.
  • Conduct three 50-minute study sessions per week throughout the term using strategies learned through the SI Leader training workshop.
  • Regularly meet with the SI Supervisor for debrief sessions.
  • Regularly meet with the cooperating Faculty member.
  • Create and use SI session handouts.
  • Create and use a wide variety of learning strategies.
  • Assist SI Supervisor in training other SI leaders.
  • Provide extra SI sessions during final exam week.
  • Provide handouts for use during SI sessions.
  • Meet with other campus SI Leaders and supervisory staff at scheduled meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Sophomore standing and beyond. GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • A grade of A or B in the selected course.
  • Prior enrollment with the professor who is to teach the selected course is preferred.
  • Content-competency.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Some nights and weekends may be required.

Additional Information

  • We are hiring for the following courses: BIOL 3310 BIOL 3320 ECON 2000 ECON 2020 ECON 2030 and MATH 1280. You must have prior credit for the class in order to serve as the SI leader for the class. If you have credit for MATH 1310 that is sufficient credit for MATH 1280. The SI Leader must be able to attend the assigned class. Please include with your application a resume and a statement of which course(s) you are interested in serving in as an SI Leader as well as the section(s) you can attend. For MATH 1280 you can attend multiple sections throughout the week to ensure you attend each day.
  • Payable time for this position is 10 hours/week (12 hours/week for MATH 1280) which includes attending class facilitating study sessions planning the study sessions and attending mandatory training meetings.
