JOB SUMMARY: Direct all production aspects of dramatic presentations
in the middle school.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Make the selection of an appropriate play or musical for middle school production.
2. Order production scripts and arrange for proper licensing.
3. Establish a production budget while maintaining parameters.
4. Advertise and conduct auditions; select student actors for roles; conduct rehearsals and supervise students.
5. Contract for necessary services including but not limited to sound technician properties or drops costumes.
6. Choose production dates and times; prepare and distribute publicity materials.
7. Oversee all production support including but not limited to set construction props costumes and make-up.
8. Collaborate with and oversee support staff including but not limited to music directors stage and art crew advisors costumers and choreographer.
9. Schedule and prepare a preview assembly program; stage public performances.
10. Supervise striking of the set and return of all borrowed materials.
11. Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma necessary
Experience in the field of dramatics is preferred
Submission of pre-employment medical examination (Section 148 of the Pennsylvania School Code)
Submission of a report of criminal history record from the Pennsylvania State Police (Section 111 of the Pennsylvania School Code)
Nonresidents and Pennsylvania residents who have not resided in the Commonwealth for at least two years prior to the date of application for employment are required to obtain an FBI Criminal History Record
Submission of a clearance report from the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare in
accordance with Act 151 of 1994
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
