Process Technician
Osseo MN Direct-Hire $30.00-$40.00/hr (Flexible) 100% On-SiteWe are seeking a skilled Process Technician to support day-to-day injection molding operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for machine setup process monitoring troubleshooting and ensuring consistent part quality. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented mechanically inclined and enjoys hands-on problem solving to optimize production efficiency and minimize downtime.
Key Responsibilities
Setup & Operation Perform complete mold and machine setups including auxiliary equipment such as dryers loaders thermolators and robots.
Verify machine parameters before startup and ensure all process settings match approved documentation.
Initiate stabilize and monitor molding processes to maintain part quality and cycle consistency.
Assist with first-article inspections new mold qualifications and process validations.
Support engineering and maintenance teams with tooling and equipment adjustments during production.
Troubleshooting & Continuous Improvement Identify and correct process variations or quality issues in real time.
Diagnose root causes of production defects such as short shots flash or dimensional inconsistencies.
Recommend and implement process improvements to increase yield reduce scrap and enhance efficiency.
Assist with mold trials sampling and process development for new and existing programs.
Documentation & Quality Accurately record process settings changes and test results in manufacturing databases or log sheets.
Follow established inspection procedures and ensure all parts meet visual and dimensional standards.
Maintain process documentation including startup checklists setup sheets and troubleshooting reports.
Support the Quality and Engineering teams with validation runs and capability studies.
Safety & Collaboration Follow all plant safety policies and procedures including lockout/tagout and PPE requirements.
Maintain clean organized work areas and promote a culture of safety and accountability.
Communicate clearly with team members and leadership regarding process changes production status and equipment issues.
Participate in shift hand-offs training sessions and production meetings to share process knowledge and best practices.
Qualifications & Skills
Minimum 2 years of experience as a Process Technician Mold Setter or similar role in plastic injection molding.
Working knowledge of thermoplastics and the principles of Scientific Molding.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints setup sheets and process documentation.
Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hydraulic pneumatic and electrical systems.
Experience with precision measurement tools such as calipers micrometers and gauges.
Effective communication and teamwork skills; able to collaborate across departments.
Formal training in molding technologies (e.g. RJG Paulson) or process monitoring systems preferred.
