Job Description

Our client an established family-run group of companies based in Sydney Nova Scotia is seeking an experienced Controller to join their team. This is an exciting permanent and hands-on leadership role offering the opportunity to oversee accounting operations and contribute directly to the ongoing success of a respected local business.

Key Responsibilities for the Job:

• Oversee full-cycle accounting
• Prepare monthly quarterly and annual financial statements
• Manage payroll processing and related remittances
• Monitor cash flow and lead budgeting and forecasting activities
• Coordinate year-end activities including working with external accountants and auditors
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff
• Ensure accuracy timeliness and compliance in all financial reporting
• Assist with process improvements and system efficiencies as needed

• Proven experience in a similar hands-on Controller role
• CPA designation is considered anasset but not required
• Proficiency with Sage 50(or similar accounting software)
• Proactive collaborative leader with a commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities while leading a team
