Role:Staff Software Engineer

Advantra is partnering with a high-growth tech startup to hire a Staff Software Engineer to lead architectural decisions mentor engineers and own systems from design through scale.
About the role:
You will design and build large-scale production-grade software systems influence technical strategy and provide mentorship to engineering teams. You will ensure systems are maintainable scalable and aligned with business goals.
Responsibilities:
- Lead architecture and system design for complex software projects.
- Own end-to-end software development from concept to production.
- Mentor and guide engineers on best practices and technical decisions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements.
- Make tradeoff decisions between scalability performance and maintainability.
- Conduct code reviews and enforce high engineering standards.
- Identify technical risks and propose mitigation strategies.
- Drive continuous improvement of engineering processes and infrastructure.
- Ensure observability reliability and performance of deployed systems.
Core requirements:
- 7 years of experience in software engineering at startups or high-growth companies.
- Proven experience in system architecture and design at scale.
- Strong programming skills in at least one major language (Python Java Go etc.).
- Experience building distributed scalable and maintainable systems.
- Demonstrated mentorship of junior and mid-level engineers.
- Experience owning production systems and guiding them through lifecycle changes.
- Strong understanding of tradeoffs in system design reliability and performance.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS GCP Azure) and infrastructure management.
- Ability to influence technical strategy and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
- Track record of shipping high-impact software features.
Nice to have:
- Experience in microservices or service-oriented architectures.
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (Docker Kubernetes).
- Experience in observability monitoring and performance tuning.
- Knowledge of security best practices and compliance in software systems.
- Background in SaaS or enterprise software platforms.
