Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Estimator to join our project estimating team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in preparing and managing cost estimates for various projects focusing on accuracy feasibility and alignment with organizational goals. The Senior Estimator will work closely with different departments to ensure project estimates are comprehensive and consider all project variables.
Day to day responsibilities include leading and preparing estimates the development of pricing models and evaluating new technological innovations in the industry. The candidate will have the ability to grow their skillset as our team also works on a large portfolio of technologies including wind utility scale solar distributed solar energy storage transmission & distribution lines substations water treatment 5G & fiber hydrogen pipelines and fossil generation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed project cost estimates including conceptual preliminary and definitive estimates for new and existing projects.
- Perform conceptual engineering design and develop preliminary construction plans to support estimating scope quantification.
- Collaborate with engineering procurement and construction teams to gather and analyze project specifications drawings and other documentation to prepare accurate estimates.
- Perform value engineering analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality and project requirements.
- Develop and maintain estimation tools databases and methodologies to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of cost estimating processes.
- Conduct risk assessments and develop contingency plans to account for potential project uncertainties.
- Present cost estimates and value engineering options to senior management project stakeholders and clients.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior estimators fostering a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
- Coordinate with contractors subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing and ensure the best value for the company.
- Track project costs and variances throughout the project lifecycle updating estimates as necessary to reflect changes in scope design or market conditions.
- Ensure compliance with company policies industry standards and regulatory requirements in all estimating activities.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Engineering Construction Management or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in project estimating with a focus on conceptual engineering and project design.
- Experience in utility-scale energy projects including renewable energy power generation and transmission infrastructure.
- Proficiency in value engineering principles and practices.
- Strong understanding of construction methods materials and equipment.
- Knowledge of industry standards and best practices in project estimating and cost management.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite particularly Excel.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters or Post-Graduate Degree in Engineering Construction Management Business or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in project estimating with a focus on conceptual engineering and project design.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in field engineering or construction management
- Certified Estimating Professional (CEP) or Certified Cost Professional (CCP)
- Experience with cost estimation software and tools (e.g. PlanSwift WinEst CostX or similar).
- Familiarity with project management software such as MS Project or Primavera P6.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in a standard office environment.
- Occasional travel to project sites for meetings inspections and collaboration with on-site teams.
Work Environment:
- This position is based in our corporate office with occasional visits to project sites.
- The work environment is fast-paced and requires the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
