Purpose Of The Job:
Our client is seeking a Workshop Foreman to join their well-established gearbox workshop in Rustenburg. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership abilities hands-on technical experience and deep expertise in gearboxes diagnostics and truck mechanical systems.
This role is suited to an experienced professional who can effectively manage workshop operations while providing technical support and solutions to complex mechanical and diagnostic challenges.

- Manage and supervise workshop staff including mechanics technicians and assistants
- Plan and allocate daily work schedules to ensure optimal productivity and efficiency
- Provide technical support and diagnostic solutions for mechanical and gearbox-related issues
- Oversee gearbox bench work including stripping assessing repairing and assembling gearboxes
- Conduct quality control checks on all completed jobs before delivery
- Perform vehicle and gearbox diagnostics using appropriate tools and equipment
- Ensure adherence to safety housekeeping and operational standards within the workshop
- Monitor job cards workflow and turnaround times ensuring accuracy and timely completion
- Liaise with customers suppliers and management on technical matters progress updates and quotations
- Provide training mentorship and support to junior technicians and apprentices
- Assist in cost control productivity tracking and workshop performance reporting
- 510 years experience in the motor industry (essential)
- Mechanical Diploma / Certificate / Red Seal Trade Test (Motor or Diesel Mechanic)
- Proven experience in gearbox bench work and drivetrain repairs
- Strong background in diagnostics and fault-finding
- Experience working on trucks and commercial vehicles (advantageous)
- Solid technical understanding of mechanical and transmission systems
- Valid drivers licence
- Excellent leadership communication and organisational skills
- Motor Industry experience Essential!!
- Strong leadership and team management ability

- Commitment to quality workmanship and safety standards
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Professional disciplined and customer-focused work ethic
- Experience with both manual and automatic gearbox systems
- Familiarity with diagnostic software and modern diagnostic tools
- Previous experience in a specialist gearbox or drivetrain workshop
