The successful candidate will demonstrate:

• Positive and proactive situational leadership of the project team
• Management of the delivery of highly complex projects and coordination of project progress and issues with key stakeholders including Customers senior managers and executives
• Experience in leadership and management of Defence Acquisition programs
• Ability to execute programs with autonomy in achieving project success using escalation where and when appropriate
• Definition development and execution of plans and activities to achieve project objectives and outcomes
• Customer focus and ownership of Customer relationships
• Proficiency in project management disciplines including Scheduling Finance Subcontracts Risk and Opportunity
• Planning monitoring and control of project costs to achieve budget expectations and preparation of monthly financial and project status reports for internal and external stakeholders
• Excellent written and oral communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders
• Behaviours that align with and promote UMs Alignment Integrity and Transparency values

Youll bring high levels of personal motivation and drive combined with:

• Success on high complexity programs with at least 5 years of Defence industry experience
• Tertiary qualification in Engineering Science or Business (or equivalent)
• A calm adaptive approach to managing changing priorities whilst delivering to program commitments
• Situational leadership skills to enable effective influencing of the project team and senior level leaders and customers
• Experience in management of complex international and domestic subcontracts
• Demonstrable knowledge of PMBOK Project Management principles and performance management frameworks including AS4817 Earned Value Management system and processes
• An ability to perform excellently in all areas of Program Management: scheduling budgeting/cost control financial reporting interpersonal skills and customer relationships
• A commitment to development and mentoring of direct reports and a desire for them to succeed and progress
• Familiarity and proficiency in PM tools and software including MS Project or Open Plan Professional MS Word MS Excel Risk Predict (or equivalent)
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain an Australian security clearance
