DescriptionAbout the role:
This role is designed tolead the State 16s & State 18s Female State Academy as head coach and to support Western Australias most talented athletes and coaches in their quest to enhance the development of players entry into the WAFLW State Academy and/or the AFLW system. This is a Full-Time 2-year Maximum Term contract.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Preparation communication & implementation of a training program which is appropriate for this stage of the player talent pathway.
- Lead the State Academy programs in catering for individual differences rehab and varying player workloads as well as encouraging the physical development of players through the strength and conditioning coaches and programs.
- Collaboration with State Talent Manager Female Programs on training and program operations.
- Understanding of and experience in leading supporting and developing emerging athletes of this age group including familiarity with child safeguarding requirements.
- Experience in developing and supporting coaches with an understanding of the specific requirements of this age group
- In conjunction with WAFLW clubs participate when required in the appointment process for WAFLW League and Rogers Cup Coaches and advise on potential Development Squad Coaches
- Information communication and management in an age-appropriate and collaborative manner
- State Talent identification and liaison between all relevant coaches on matters of selection talent ID and State Academy player development
- Public Relations in alignment with WA Football policies
- other duties as directed by the Position Description and the manager
Skills And ExperiencesTo be considered for this position you will need to demonstrate the following criteria:
Essential:
- WAFL/W or PFL coaching experience or equivalent
- Minimum Silver coach accreditation
- Demonstrated knowledge involvement and understanding of talent development programs
- Demonstrated leadership skills
- Highly developed verbal and written communication skills
- Mentor/teaching skills that develop trust and respect
- Demonstrated ability to formulate and communicate sequential training and game plans
- Demonstrated ability to develop high levels of leading team unity
- Demonstrated ability to inspire individuals and teams in the pursuit of individual and team achievement
- Hold a current WA Working with Children card (Essential)
- Hold a current (6months) National Police Check (Essential)
Desirable:
- AFL/W coaching experience
- Demonstrated working knowledge of football IT program
