About the role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Engineering Officer to join our Design and Certification this pivotal role you will provide expert technical advice to customers consultants project managers and ASP Level 3 designers. You will assess and certify electricity network designs to ensure they are safe sustainable and compliant with Essential Energys standards. Your work will directly support customers connecting to our network while balancing stakeholder and community expectations.

You will also support Construction Inspectors and internal teams with design advice evaluate and validate equipment and systems and contribute to strategic planning and development.

This role will be based within the Essential Energy footprint with the ability to work from home in a hybrid work environment.

You are a proactive and strategic thinker with a strong background in the energy or utilities sector. You thrive in collaborative environments and are passionate about delivering safe and effective network solutions. Your ability to manage complex technical issues and communicate clearly with stakeholders sets you apart.

• Strong analytical and technical problem-solving abilities
• High-level strategic thinking and planning skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proven ability to manage audits and implement improvements
• Skilled in managing complex workloads and prioritising tasks
• Proficient in relevant computer operations and business systems
• Detail-oriented with strong time management and organisational skills

Required Qualifications

• Advanced Diploma or Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering (with electives in Heavy Power or related to the Electricity Supply Industry) or equivalent experience
• White Card WorkCover Induction for Construction Work
• Current Drivers Licence
• Level 3 Restricted Zone Substation Access

Desired Experience

• Extensive experience in the Energy/Electrical or Utilities Industry
• In-depth knowledge of sub-transmission and distribution design philosophies
• Familiarity with energy industry reforms and regulatory environments
• Experience in strategic planning budgeting and contingency management
• Structural engineering experience with specialist design software
• Project Management qualifications (desirable)
