Job Summary:
The Inventory Clerk in the Parts Department is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory levels receiving and stocking parts managing inventory records and assisting with parts-related tasks to ensure smooth operations within the dealership. This position plays a key role in supporting technicians service advisors and retail customers by ensuring timely availability and delivery of automotive parts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive verify and process incoming parts shipments.
- Label and stock parts in appropriate locations within the parts department.
- Maintain accurate records of inventory levels using dealership management software (DMS).
- Conduct regular cycle counts and reconcile discrepancies.
- Monitor inventory for obsolete excess or slow-moving parts and report to the Parts Manager.
- Organize and maintain a clean and orderly parts storage area.
- Assist with returns to vendors and core returns.
- Support counter staff with parts pulling bin stocking and locating items as needed.
- Assist with physical inventories during audits or end-of-year counts.
- Report damaged or missing items to the appropriate personnel.
- Follow all safety and security procedures.
- Some driving will be required
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; some college or technical training preferred.
- Previous inventory or warehouse experience (automotive parts preferred).
- Familiarity with automotive parts and terminology is a plus.
- Proficient with inventory software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel Outlook).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Valid drivers license and a clean driving record.
Work Environment:
- Primarily indoors in a warehouse or parts department environment.
- Exposure to automotive parts oils and chemicals.
- Fast-paced dealership setting requiring multitasking.
